It is possible to dye your hair blonde, but it would be costly! We would need to see your hair and test it with a Colourstart strand tester, to gauge your sensitivity to hair colourants, and also we would need to ascertain the condition of your hair.

The normal process is to do a gentle cleanse to see the amount of colour in the hair and to remove as much as we can. This costs between £25 and £40 depending on your hair length and volume. In extreme cases we may have to do a deep cleanse if the colour isn’t removed in the first process. This would be an added cost of £40 to £60. Then you would need the new blonde on top. This does seem like a lot of money, but it is a very time consuming process and the products are also expensive.

Colour change does damage your hair slightly so a professional treatment is recommended.

For a start don’t be ashamed it’s a common problem and head lice are attracted to clean hair anyway. But please don’t go to the Salon with head lice as they do spread and, especially, blow driers will blow them about! We would suggest you go to your doctor and get the current recommended treatment. But to avoid lice problems in the future, keep your childrens’ hair tied back and pop a few drops of tea tree oil on their hairbrush everyday. Lice hate the smell of tea tree and it’s good for your hair as well.

We recommend that you do not use the high street brand anti-dandruff products. Although they claim to remove dandruff, what they actually do is remove the top layer of the skin, called the dermis, exposing the epidermis which leaves the scalp open to infection and affects re-growth. Once you stop using these products the skin has to grow back and will be flakey again. This is all part of the skin renewal process.

You might not see the results at first, but because of the skin renewal process and with continuous use over a longer term you will be shocked by the change in your hair and scalp condition.

Please try not to wash your hair too often, even though you feel you have to. Too much washing doesn’t give you hair’s natural oils a chance. SEBO CONTROL shampoo by L’Oreal is excellent for the treatment of greasy hair. Don’t put conditioner on your roots as it will make greasiness worse.

If the problem persists after you’ve tried the above we would recommend you consult your doctor, as it could be a simple problem with your hormones.

The chosen colour you bought has not been compatible with your existing colour. First you would need to come to the Salon for a professional consultation and diagnosis as this is the only way you’ll be able to reverse this. We would probably recommend a professional colour cleanse to strip the dye off your hair and a fresh colour with depth and tone applied. Going lighter might not be an option due to the condition, but we would need to check all these things at the consultation along with the porosity and elasticity levels.
