I will keep you all updated on here, and Facebook (Hooloovoo Hair) or twitter @hooloovoohair. There you will find me blogging and tweeting all things fashionable, so feel free to add and follow us :) I have decided that every week I will write about a different common problem that people may experience with their hair. I will tell you the facts, what causes the problem and treatment you could do to help. If there is a certain problem that you have and you would like to talk to me, please feel free to email me at info@hooloovoo.co.uk This week will be DANDRUFF What is Dandruff? Dandruff is a common complaint that people have with their hair and scalp. They have itching and flaking that shows up on any dark clothing. Unlike dry scalp flakes (generally small), dandruff flakes are larger and feel greasy. It is accompanied by intense itching and redness (inflammation of the scalp). It is important to be aware of the irritation because excessive scratching can lead to injury to the scalp. What are the causes of Dandruff? The exact causes are a subject of much debate in the medical community. Depending on who you listen to, it has a variety of triggers and factors. I know dandruff is caused by frequent exposure to extreme heat and cold. What treatments can I use? You could use a dandruff control shampoo and conditoner, but once your symptoms abate, use it less frequently (one or two times a week is sufficient). You need to keep the hair and scalp clean and as dry as much as possible. Avoid scratching, you can get a number of over the counter medications. Hooloovoo do offer a L'Oreal Professionel Power Clear anti-dandruff treatment that helps get rid of the dandruff and it lasts in your hair for up to 6 weeks. Hope this helps you understand a little more about Dandruff and it helps. Remember we still need models for training on a Tuesday evening from 4.30pm with a Post Graduate for Gents Crop and Style. As a team we decided to choose three very different themes. One collection, led by Simi and Kate, was inspired by the Nicolas Murray photograph of Freda Kahlo that was on the front cover of French vogue in 1939. Freda Kahlo was a surrealist Mexican artist. From a fashion perspective Frida's style, although unique in the late 1930's, is still fresh and looks like it was taken yesterday. We chose the Vogue photograph of Frida rather than a painting because we loved the way it displays how Frida is a true fashion icon. We see the essence of Frida Kahlo reflected in so much of today's fashions and we wanted to bring this alive in our collection The collection shown here is made up of 8 images of 4 models. All models had their hair styled and had simple make up mwith clothes that hugged and showed off their figures. We wanted to create a raw nakedness for the images, expressing Frida Kahlo's exposed vulnerability. We then restyled the models to express Frida's surrelist style. All the hair, clothes and jewlery we used were designed to reshape the models, hiding vulnerability and becoming more sculptured. The second theme was Festival to reflect the styles one might wear to a laid back festival atmosphere such as Glastonbury or Latitude and the team all used their creative talents to great effect. Lastly we had our talented juniors Layla and Lucy who took on a vintage 40's theme transforming their young models with hair, clothes, jewellry and poses that come straight out of Brief Encounter. A big thanks go to all the team and Ross for theirr efforts and to the fantastic models for their patience and style. |
